I don't think we drove on one freeway in the entire country.  Most of the time we slowly, puttered along dirt roads from one rural town to the next.  In Transylvania, we passed by rows and rows of connected colorful homes, visited fortressed churches, and a few of "Dracula's" old stomping grounds.  The Transfagarasan (say that 10x fast) wound up through the foggy, cold Carpathian mountains and the hundreds of sheep gave us quite a run for our money.
